Seeds of England

The_Founding_of_Australia._By_Capt._Arthur_Phillip_R.N._Sydney_Cove,_Jan._26th_1788

There was always something of the Englishman in Lee Kuan Yew. During his Cambridge education, he had ample opportunity to examine British society. In the decades that followed, he proved how well he learned from his observations when he built up Singapore. He refused to give into an anti-colonial mania of purging British influences and instead took inspiration, from the Westminster system to the civil service – all backed up with Chinese cultural attitudes toward meritocracy. With his passing, it remains to be seen whether these influences will remain in Singapore. Regardless, the extent to which the British inheritance endured beyond […]

A Note on the Manosphere

Written by , Posted in Uncategorized

hunting_the_cave_bear_

Occasionally, the “manosphere” and some of the other parties on the alt-Right have a dust-up. (Sometimes hilarity ensues.) The critiques that the reactionary and the traditionalist rightists register against the manosphere during these dust-ups are generally valid ones. There is, for instance, no real defense of “pick-up artistry” from the standpoint of someone who takes the idea of community, much less the idea of morality, seriously. Trawling bars and nightclubs, plying young women with “cold openers” and drinks, securing one night stands and upping your “notch count”—these are empty and hedonistic pursuits. They’re disfiguring to the souls of everyone involved: […]

A New American Foreign Policy, Part Two

Written by , Posted in Uncategorized

Old world map

Last time we noted the obvious: America is the center of the world, but the gravity that maintains that eminence is slipping by the day. It seems that every moments the bastions of anti-American hegemony increase in strength, in ardor, in fury, and in loudness. The causes of this are many but most revolve around the various kinds of self-imposed degeneracy and delusion that has permeated the culture and poisoned the ruling elite. Having recognized that American hegemony, as it is now, is on its way out let’s look approach an alternative, beginning with the lay of the land. For […]

Shrugging Off the Burden of Common Culture

Written by , Posted in Uncategorized

atlas

If we can identify a common impulse shared by technocratic liberals, conservatives, and libertarians alike, it’s that they all tend to believe that culture is something that can be ignored, and that it amounts to a sort of waste which, being imperfectly accountable on a balance sheet, ought to be ignored when it isn’t being actively denigrated. Understanding history and culture acts like a tax on time, attention, memory, and behavior. It’s an unseen source of mostly unwritten laws. It makes up physical mannerisms, appearance, verbal tics, senses of humor, taste in food, and artistic styles. It’s the common sensibility […]

A Patriarchal Restoration Theory

Written by , Posted in Uncategorized

mrs-minor

Every civilization in the history of the World has been a patriarchy. There is not a single exception. Sure, there are some matriarchal cultures. They exist as anthropological curios in remote hunter-gatherer areas or in archeological studies on lost tribes. A mandatory prerequisite for an advanced stage of human social and technical development is strong patriarchy. Every single civilization from China to India, Persia to Egypt, Rome to the Incans, whenever one emerged, that core feature is demonstrated. The cultivation of patriarchy is what likely lead to the advance of the Neolithic Revolution. Patriarchy has been the rule, without exception, […]

The Flight From Truth

Written by , Posted in Uncategorized

cain flees God blake

Why do we care about the truth? It seems a strange question to ask because very few people question that truth is a good thing. It’s difficult to imagine anyone not being concerned with truth. When truth becomes regarded as irrelevant or even dangerous, the social order begins a path toward destruction. Ideologies are set against human nature. The promised Utopia is always just one more purge away. This means that it’s better for a society to face the truth even when the truth hurts, because you’re better off in the long run. But the fact is that there have been […]

Ideology and Etiology

Written by , Posted in Uncategorized

JUNKFOOD

The fat acceptance movement, when you get down to it, is one of the most hideous ideological aberrations on the social media scene right now. (And there are plenty of aberrations to vie for those top spots.) It’s almost perfect in its perversity. When other pet causes of the culture war Left try to corrode normalcy, they’re at least somewhat subtle about it. There’s some sort of bait and switch in play. They want you to call a masculinized woman “empowered” or they want you to call some mental illness a “gender identity.” They want you to merely distort the truth. […]

A New American Foreign Policy, Part One

Written by , Posted in Uncategorized

american-eagle-on-shield

Today America is the center of the world. It is the great and mighty beast around which all nations, strong and weak, orient themselves. Even its softest steps disturbs nations worldwide, and America does not enjoy taking soft steps. It prefers dashing ahead, pounding the ground with great strength and fortitude as if to issue a challenge: “If you want stability and a status quo, it will be my stability, my status quo. My terms, all mine!” That is America’s foreign policy since the Second World War in a nutshell. My way or the highway. And it has been an […]
