Ascending The Tower – Episode XVI, Part 1 – “Weaponized Goodness”

Anthony, Nick, and E. Antony are joined by Louis de Bonald to discuss Progressivism and Millenarian movements. In part 1, they trace the memetic roots of contemporary Progressive culture to the hardliners of the Protestant Revolution, John Calvin and Huldrych Zwingli.

  1. In America Catholic is code word for Mexican, Irish and Italian. Since the 1850s Catholics in America have been a reliable foundation of support for leftism. It’s only in recent years that the Catholic left has began to wane but white Catholics still vote more blue than any other major denomination.

    1. Catholics: always shitting up your perfect puritan democracy!!

      1. The fruits of Catholicism are in Mesoamerica to all other peoples it’s a dying religion. Despite all the Protestant bashing Evangelicals are the only ones with their act together

        1. Evangelicals… LOL.

If you get to trot out the Muh One Percent of Evangelicals that aren’t cucked, then I get to trot out the Muh One Percent Latin Mass Catholics.

          Deal?

  2. It’s always good clean fun to kick the Calvinists / Puritans (aka damnyankees) around. Good discussion, looking forward to Pt2.

  3. Really interesting. I think this is one of the best AtT I have heard. I haven’t yet gotten around to part II, but wow, you covered the topic at hand in real detail and illustrated the thesis in ways that I had not really understood in depth before. Well done!

Thank you gentlemen for another episode. I have been playing catchup and just got to this one.

At the risk of sounding impertinent though I will say the echo chamber effect was a bit overpowering. There was quite a bit of generalizing and a few outright misrepresentations that detracted from the whole. I know a good many reformed scholars who would have taken some of your smug objections to the woodshed.

I have gotten about halfway through the second part discussing the Semitic influence and have enjoyed the Jewish guest. If only you could have found a worthy protestant mind to represent the other side.
