  2. Interesting discussion. Two quick points:

    (1) Opioid withdrawal isn’t lethal. It is very unpleasant and people don’t like having to go through it, but it won’t kill anyone. Alcohol and benzodiazepine withdrawal, on the other hand, can both be very, very dangerous.
