It's really amazing to me how little people care about what they wear. It's common to see people around here dressed in their pajamas while out and about. Many others look like they were dressed by a blind infant. Their clothing doesn't fit, doesn't match and serves no purpose other than pure utility. I've never understood this. They just don't care or what is it? How can they not see how awful they look? I look at pictures of the way normal people dressed 50 or 100 years ago and the differences are astounding.

Beauty isn't democratic. It isn't elitist either, because you can't make it with money or power. It's offensive on both counts.

Beauty is divine, from any perspective, because it represents order and harmony. Beauty can occur spontaneously but are helped by creating and maintaining order and harmony.

Civilization is very difficult to create and easy to destroy. The paradox is that urbanization, which is a product of civilization, also creates an environment where the disgust reaction, necessary for health and beauty, is muted. Close proximity of unrelated people allows art, music, literature, philosophy, and even athletics, but it also creates the problems of filth, sexual degeneracy, and predatory social competition.

Dare to be square.

You can start by paying attention to style in how you dress. Sven Raphael Schneider at Gentleman's Gazette is a good place to start:

Part of the problem may be a lack of confidence. Hipsters and subversives always undermine confidence. Simply learning how to dress in a classic way can boost confidence and make a statement. Not saying everyone needs this but it can help.
