The Unconventional Conservatism of the Left
Written by Henry Dampier Posted in Uncategorized
The left has conquered all of its opponents, despite ferocious resistance and uncountable deaths among their enemies. It must pursue an unconventional conservationism in order to defend the territory that it has seized.
After centuries of steady gains, the left now finds itself on the defensive
From a disenfranchised minority of authors, it has won control of world-striding governments, gained influence over billions of people, and built durable institutions around its ideals of equality. Kings and patriarchs have been killed and toppled. Those who were low have been made higher. The revolution has deposed the old aristocracy, and it’s difficult to tell whether or not what passes for the current elite even really counts as one at all by historic standards.
The universities, formerly the provisioners of privilege, find themselves in a difficult position one generation after the Left conquered them throughout the West in 1968. Administrators have met virtually all of the demands of the protesters of that time. Many of the leading protesters of that time are now, themselves, either senior professors or administrators. What had been hoped for has been achieved: universities, the guarantors of status, are now open to both genders, permit great freedom in what students may choose to study, and have obliterated the classical curriculum which had before remained both unbroken and international for centuries.
The sexual revolution is inherently unstable
The re-ordering of relations between the sexes has been the most shocking gain of the revolutionaries of 1968. Although coteries of intellectuals have long held this change as a long-term goal, none could have expected the degree to which it has succeeded. The repressed West has transformed into a free-wheeling West. The pre-1968 era is as to a convent as what we have today is as to a brothel. Further, the expectations of behavior that had been embedded in social class have become entirely obliterated. A Harvard student is liable to receive a seminar in anal sex. What had previously been inconceivable is now commonplace.
However, at least from the perspective of whomever must plan the future of the Harvard endowment, it must come to mind whether or not a student body raised to believe that promiscuous sodomy is the height of virtue will produce sufficient high-grade progeny to repopulate the alumni list once all the surviving ones are dead.
Whom will they call? Don’t they know that anal sex doesn’t produce heirs and heiresses? They’ve certainly had enough sexual education to learn that much.
Perhaps this is one of the reasons as to why so many elite schools are so intent on recruiting high-performing students from abroad: the ones that they’re producing domestically are not really performing to standard in the long term sense.
The sexual revolution mandates that elites promote doctrines that are insupportable in the long term, which require that both sexes perform contrary to their inclinations and natures. The cost of promoting ideologies which are totally contrary to intrinsic biological drives is astronomical. Whatever lead the United States may have enjoyed owing to its great fortunes in the 20th century will be squandered in its failure to reproduce its own leadership class effectively. That its own leadership class considers that it ought to be a goal to prevent the formation of a proper leadership class further condemns it to historical irrelevance.
Regardless to the consequences to institutions or to individuals, the gains must be conserved.
Permanent racial revolution generates disorder
Another direct self-contradiction of the left’s unconventional conservatism is that they find it necessary to continually re-enact the historical phenomenon of the Civil Rights movement. It is always necessary to uncover new racist grievances on a continual basis. The pageantry of so-called nonviolent marching must be re-enacted as hidebound ritual in order to keep the otherwise dead reverence of the events of the 1960s alive. Without the re-enactments, it’s quite possible that the reverence would begin to fade, no matter how many five-paragraph essays that public school teachers assign to their students.
This compulsion to repeat disorderly events to conserve the momentum of the permanent cultural revolution is, for the left, inescapable. The chaos is what must be conserved, even if it damages their ability to hold power.
Conservatives are the loyal running-dogs of the left
Among conservatives, it’s often common to find the most passionate advocates for the work done by the left only 10, 20, 30, or 40 years ago. Almost no one on the contemporary left, apart from schoolteachers in nowhesville, bother to mention figures like Martin Luther King. Among American conservatives, praising the radical socialist preacher is nearly obligatory. This is the way that the outer party – inner party democratic system works. The outer party performs clean-up duty, and the inner party attempts to break new ground. The outer party consolidates gains, and the inner party attempts to innovate upon its platform of disintegration.
To conserve itself, the left employs useful idiots. Most of those useful idiots work at successful outlets like Fox News and its analogs in print and on the web. It’s typically quite difficult for American conservatives to comprehend how badly they are abused in their employment in this manner. Conservatives typically find themselves bullied into accepting the latest innovation pushed by the left’s ideologues whether they want to or not. The same cable subscription that brings in Fox News brings in the Disney Channel, E!, and the other television networks promoting a political line that reinforces precisely the message promoted by the radical leftists teaching at the local ‘good school.’
What America calls conservatives is the conservationism of the left. They are the rear-guards. But they are the left, just the same.

Brilliant.
