Great piece. I read the Salon piece as well when it came out and could sense the resentful and questioning undertone the whole way through. Couldn’t believe the lengths that the author went to justify that these housewives weren’t “really” happy and that there might be cracks in her self-proclaimed “atheist childless” paradigm. Also glad to read a feminist critique from someone who seems to be a bit more educated on the subject than the average reactionary commentator.

That’s why I included the BDSM example. Also, the ones that go so far out of their way as to make that claim are almost always radical feminists, as opposed to just regular liberal feminists. For radfems you need other arguments, but I had to end the piece somewhere.

Don’t feminists say that you can’t consent to housewifery any more than you can consent to slavery?
“So men can consent to a domestic arrangement but women can’t? I’m confused, I thought it was sexist to believe women are weaker.”

Can’t actually say that though, it would break character. I want to compete in a ketman contest, to find out how good mine is.
