This is a good characterisation because it captures the absurdity of the idea. Why would anyone want nothing to be sacred? Surely the sacred should be sacred. Is criticism applicable everywhere in a culture? No, criticism is embedded in a culture, the whole culture cannot stand in need of justification. So free speech is always a call for desecration. The game played with free speech is merely a game of deciding who gets to do the desecrating. This is what the different parties struggled over in revolution and what they still struggle over today.]]></description>
