Conservative would be a better word for Thucydides, Aristotle, and Polybius, at least, in their own contexts. We don’t know much about Empedocles’s politics, but he seems to have been anti-oligarchical, which in his day was quite radical. There’s no reason neoreaction can’t have a similar theory.
